? - "???" (from the ??? lp, released soon, will be available in all fine retailers.)

this individual was an icon in the 1980's and a major influence on many of today's musicians but for various reasons he disappeared off the scene. he came back w/ a vengeance recently w/ a highly-regarded new album and this is the follow-up. the track in question has him doing what he does best; the sound is retro but forward-looking at the same time. one might say that he's taking his cue from many of today's hot young artists ... until one realizes that he taught them much of what they know.

this individual is also highly litigious, thus all of the secrecy.

Having not listened, I must ask - is it M-------y, who recently claimed he was questioned by the F-- about possibly being a terrorist?

I love the second single off of this record...but this sounds like a song in a movie that involves a new musical talent making it big (Be Cool comes to mind). You know what I'm talking about--everyone is in the studio, grooving in the mixing booth while the new kid lays down the vocal track, and some guy in a sideways cap says, half to himself, "its a number one baby, its a number one..." And the song always sounds hit-ish, like it has all the ingredients, all the same instruments and vocal plugins, but somehow it just doesnt click, and sounds completely fake, and bad.

richard : when writing the description, it occurred to me that there were two particular individuals who i seemed to be writing about, and one was m*******y. on the surface, they don't seem so alike, but when you think about it ...

colin : excellent description. i do like this artist's second single as well. i like this one though for all of those parts, so much of it sounding like what he did well. i'm not sure it'll all come together, though it's made great strides in recent days.

Well doesn't this just mess up my perfectly organized and alphabetized music library.
